There has been a lot of discussions during the pandemic about employee health. The newly published regulations place an even greater burden of proof on employers for medical surveillance. The OHSA requires the employer to conduct a hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) to assess workplace hazards. Many employers will then conduct annual medical surveillance as part of the ongoing monitoring of controls for noise etc and include audiology. TB is also obviously a occupational hazard for many companies and so annual testing would also make sense. But does the OHSA require pre-employment medicals? What is the implication for food safety management systems? What about access to medical records during an audit.
