6. Description of content:

The proposed regulations set minimum standards for the grading of table olives and prescribe the labelling of such products when presented for sale as well as the control system to ensure compliance to the standards. Food safety issues are excluded from the proposed regulations.


The proposed regulations also provide for the protection of the Geographical Indication table olives forming part of the Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the RSA
and the EU. G/TBT/N/ZAF/192/Add.1/Rev.1

The proposed regulations also provide for the protection of the Geographical Indication table olives forming part of the Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the RSA and the EU.; Consumer information, labelling; Prevention of deceptive practices and consumer protection; Protection of human health or safety; Protection of animal or plant life or health; Protection of the environment; Reducing trade barriers and facilitating trade.
