Why are we still seeing foodborne illnesses and fatalities in S.A? Well, it's not just a South African problem - foodborne illness remains a serious public health concern worldwide, with approximately 600 million falling ill after eating contaminated food and 420 000 dying every year!

So what are the factors that contribute to this?

With the dramatic increase in the usage of hand sanitisers among South African consumers, research was needed to develop a better understanding of consumers’ usage behaviour and perceptions regarding hand sanitisers, but also to assess their knowledge about its proper use.
